Been a Long Time Part 2

After our Anniversary weekend, Bake and I really wanted to get to one of Mikey's Home games. I don’t know why but it just seems like home games are way more fun then away. I think it is because you get the whole stadium full of fans, the mascot, and the videos that you get to watch on the home stadium.

Bake and I woke up really early on Saturday morning to drive up there. And when I say early I mean it. I think it was 4 in the morning when we got out the door hoping that we had missed the weekend traffic. To no luck, we hit a big accident just after it happened and was in gridlock on the 10 freeway for quite some time. I think it took us an hour just to move a half a mile. It was so sad to see the accident though. I will admit I was sleeping through much of the traffic, but Bake woke me up to see what happened. People can be so reckless on the roads. It is so sad.

Once we finally got to Phoenix, we met Cami at the house and unloaded the new dining room chairs we brought up for her and put them together. They look fabulous with her table. We had little time to get our stuff together and get changed before the Marquardts were there ready to get to lunch and then to the Stadium. We ate then Bake and I really needed some team spirit so we stopped for a new Devils YELLOW T-Shirt. I stress Yellow because apparently the players (including Mike) prefer the fans wear yellow. So I took one for the team and went along. Ha.

We made it to an afternoon game, and my goodness was it hot. I would have thought that Arizona would have cooled down by the end of October like this but I guess I was wrong. It was a scorcher, and diet coke has never tasted better to me. We watched ASU kill the other team. It was a much needed victory against Standford. It was also their Homecoming game which always makes everything more fun. We saw the whole Homecoming Court, and the Alumni Cheerleaders came back for a special performance. What an event it was. Our favorite though was the mascot. Every time the team would get a touchdown, they would put him on a platform and he would do a push up for every point ASU had. Then he would finish it with a dance to the chant of A-S-U! He did the dance so well. Cam and I tried duplicating it, but we weren’t quite as good as him.

After the game we got to eat at CafĂ© Rio.. one of my favs, and catch up with Ryan Andrus, another one of my favs. It was great to see him. Then we split from the Marquardts, and Bake, Cam, Mike and I went out for dessert then just laid around for the rest of the night. It was perfect. We tried to convince Baker not to get up early to drive home so we could eat at Le Grande Orange but it didn’t work. I even went so far as to make sure he didn’t set his alarm. Unfortunately he has some weird internal alarm clock that wakes him up whenever he needs to be up. Our trip lasted less then 24 hours but was packed with many more then 24 memories. I’m so cheesy.

Been a Long Time Part 1

Alright, Alright I know. We haven't posted in forever. So here we are ready to catch all of you up. I might as well start from where we left off.

Baker and I celebrated our One Year Anniversary in October, and I wasn't expecting much. Our anniversary fell on a Sunday so what can you really do. ASU had a game in LA so we were planning on having the whole family down for the game and Baker and I decided we would celebrate the following week. Mikey ended up getting injured the week before so he was sitting out this week and didn't even get to travel. Mark Cindy and the kids came anyway to take Alex the exchange student to Disneyland and to see the "OC" so it was good to have them game or no game. We ate good Dinner at Islands and showed Alex all the fun things to do down here.

We also got to show Mark and Cindy Susie and Blaine's new house. They recently remodeled and we all just love the new digs. While the adults caught up, Bake and I took the kids over to Balboa Island to ride the ferry and check out the scene. Alex loved it. Like always Sam and Peter were so much fun to be around. Those two are the closest friend I have ever seen. I hope my kids can love each other as much as they do.

After we went to the Bush's for breakfast and the Peninsula, the Morphy's were off to Northern California. A day earlier then I was hoping for. I know it was our anniversary, but I love hanging out with them, and Baker and I didn't have anything planned anyway. Or so I thought!

Baker all along had made some plans for us without telling me and I was so excited as soon as I heard. He made reservations for a spa for the night in La Jolla. It was like a mini get away with a massage. It was just what the doctor ordered. We drove down around noon and got there a little earlier then check in so we drove around and saw the San Diego temple and a few other things in the city. The room we had was fantastic. Baker tried getting me a massage for that afternoon but it seemed as though they were booked for the weekend.

So we just went to the bar and watched the game and sat around and watched ASU football and drank diet sodas and ate Chips and Salsa for as long as I can remember. I was really hungry and ate almost the whole bowl myself. Little did I know. We finally decided that we should go eat some real food so we finished the game over steaks at Outback. One of our favorite places.

So the next morning we sat around at the pool, layed in the hammocks, and Baker (Being the persistent husband that he is) Managed to get me an appointment at the spa so I was able to get my anniversary massage. It was heavenly. I think everyone deserves one at least once a month. Treat yourself. I haven't felt that good in quite some time. When I was done with my massage I went back to the room and Baker had my gift out to open. Between you and me, I was perfectly happy with the night away and thought he spoiled me quite a bit. It was a beautiful Sapphire band to go with my wedding ring. All the Morphy moms, and Aunts have Sapphires in their wedding rings so its a family tradition. I absolutely love it. I started to cry when I opened it. I couldn't give Baker his gift until we got home since I wasn't prepared. It was a manly power drill that I know he wanted. I didn't want him to settle on a wimpy one so I got him a pretty nice one. He was happy, so I was happy.

On our way home we decided to take PCH and it was beautiful. We stopped at one of Bakers favorite places to go as a kid. San Mallo. He was like a kid in a candy store recalling all the childhood memories there. It was so fun to watch him.

I can't believe that we have been married for over a year now. I am so lucky to have Baker and I cherish every moment I spend with him. He really is my life. I love you!

Hi Remember Us?

So you are all probably wondering: Where have the Morphy's been? Well right now, we are in Austin. "Deep in the heart of Texas!" I have been so busy that I haven't been able to catch up on the blogging. Then once I got so far behind, it was easy for me to just continue to slack. I am determined to get back to it though. With Thanksgiving coming up this week, I am going to have a lot of time to catch up! I can't wait. Baker and I had our first anniversary and have done so many great and wonderful things in the last month. I can't wait to tell you all about it. I promise more updates by Turkey day, but more then likely sooner.
Love and miss you all!

Kick What?

.
Baker and I decided that we wanted to get on a new health regimen. We set some ground rules, like no eating after 7:00pm. Doing something active 4-5 times a week. Nothing huge or out of the ordinary. Easy simple things for us to do to help maintain a healthy lifestyle. So I have been doing good and not eating late at night, and not just sitting around watching TV. (Which I love to do) On this one particular day I decided that I would go run on the treadmill at the gym. Keep in mind I am not a runner so I told myself I would be happy with getting a mile and a half on the machine.. I got over two so I was thrilled. Well on my way out I ran into one of my dear friends who works as a personal trainer at the gym I go to.. well the one that I went to that day. His appointment canceled and he asked if I wanted him to work with me. I said sure what the heck.. well 2 hours later I get out of the place barely able to walk, and having a hard time with the power steering in my car. I couldn't believe I had muscles in some of those places. It was seriously hard for me to get in and out of my car. This was only on day one. Day two I decided that I needed to do something because I could hardly sit down to go to the restroom. It was the first time in my life I wished I was a boy so I didn't have to sit down! Baker and I scheduled a tennis match with the Jones' for day two. Wow.. that was painful. Not because my muscles hurt (don't get me wrong they did a lot) but because they killed us on the court. I was so ashamed!regardless it was fun, I just hope I can keep all of this up and not come home sore everyday from the gym!

10 Years Later

Its amazing how time flies. We just went home a week or so ago to attend Bakers 10 year High School Reunion. What a party! Baker is one of those guys that you fall in love with the second you have 5 minutes to talk to him. He is just very outgoing and personable. This was definitely the case at the Reunion. Baker managed to talk to almost all of the other kids ( Well not really kids anymore, but this is High School we are talking about) remember names, and was genuinely interested in their lives after graduation. Granted there were only 132 kids in his graduating class, this is still very impressive. Baker has so many great friends from school that I have grown to love. I finally got to meet Dave's wife. Dave is one of the gentlemen in the Weight Loss Challenge that Baker is in. Him and his wife are perfect for each other. Tanya is great! I finally got Baker on the dance floor, and managed to keep him there for a good half hour. I think he has a fear of dancing because he never wants to. He is a great dancer so I don't understand why he is so shy when it is time to dance. I think we had EVERYONE there on the dance floor at one point. It was a blast!

The Reunion was so much fun, and Baker and I are already looking forward to the 20 year. I wonder how many kids we will have, and who will still be around. Life moves so fast.. I just hope we remember to take it all in and enjoy every minute of it.

We only say one drunken mishap through the entire night. One of the girls was trying to leave the dance floor to get to the bathroom and she didn't see a step and landed right on her behind. I couldn't help but snicker a little so I am so sorry!

We finally Made It!

Can anyone spot the difference in these two pictures?

I have been going to the Morphy household for quite sometime now, and one of the first things I do when I get there is check the new pictures on the refrigerator. Once the kids started to get engaged and married, Baker and I kept noticing that our engagement picture wasn't up with the other kids. We jokingly mention something every time we go home. It has sort of turned into the family joke. Well this time our great friends the Jones' were even up! Its fun to give Mark and Cindy a hard time about it.. we have pictures up all over the house, we just had never made the famous fridge. I happened to have one of our engagement pictures in the car so I quietly added ours on! We are so happy that we finally made the refrigerator! Yippeeee! You can see us here:

Theres No Place Like Home..

One of the great things about being married to Baker is his family. I can't even begin to tell you how loving and accepting everyone is. Not to mention loads of fun. It always feel so good when we go up North to visit. My only complaint would be the traffic, and this time was no exception. We left our house at 6:40pm and did not hit the top of the Grapevine until 11:00pm. We were so over driving at that point we pulled over and got a hotel. Neither Baker nor I were in the mood for another 3 hours in the middle of the night on the 99. We woke up early and got into the Morphy's around 9am on Saturday. We did get free breakfast at the hotel, and were able to thank a few firefighters that were staying there helping with the Day Fire.

As soon as we got there, Mere was out the door. Oh the life of a teenager. Its funny because Meredith use to cry every time we came home and it was time to leave. Now shes all grown up doing her own thing. She was going to a sweet 16 party that was themed "Red Carpet" and she had to dress up and there was a Limo and they took a picture with the birthday girl sprawled out on the couch. Cindy and I got a kick out of that. Sunday we got to spend the whole day with Mere, and its always so much fun. We watched conference and joked and laughed on the couch all day. So relaxing!

It was so nice to be home for Conference Weekend. There is an extra special spirit in the Morphy Home all the time, but especially during conference. Granny and Grandpa Baker came and watched the Sunday morning session with us. Cindy made really good cinnamon rolls.. they tasted just like Cinnabon. I'm still waiting for the recipe Cindy!

There was a program that we started to watch between sessions.. it was called Sisterz in Zion. Man I have never cried so much. I look over and Cindy too was bawling her eyes out, and like mother like son Baker was also really touched by the program. It was just really amazing to see such young girls with such huge testimonies and strong faith. It was really great.

Of course while we were there we made it to the Rezendiz bakery and picked up a couple of things. Baker and I have a hard time getting out of there without a pie. French Berry Pie. Mmmm. I love going there. That was my only request while we were home. Well that and Sonic, naturally. We hit Sonic on our way home.. Tots and a Cranberry Apple Juice Slush.

* On a Side Note- Mark took the picture of me and Baker at the top of this Blog.. what a wonderful photographer he is!

Harbers in the House

What a fun weekend we spent the the newlyweds from Vegas! Ben and Laura came down for the weekend to hang out with the Morphy's and the Jones'. It was obviously jam packed like every other one of our weekends are, but extra fun. Something about having house guests always makes me happy.

They drove in late night on Friday but still here in time to meet us at Islands for Kona Pie. Mmmm. All three of the boys, Baker, Ben and Matt, are all involved in a little weight loss challenge. By the looks of them chowing, it doesn't look like any of them will come out on top!

That night we stayed up until almost three in the morning catching up and talking football with a couple other people from the ward. The Jones' tapped out a little after midnight, and so did Laura. Baker, Ben and I had no problem staying up late. I never do. I am totally a night person. Baker never lets us stay up that late so it was so fun. Ben and I ate a slice of pie around 2:45 then hit the sack. I loved it. The next morning we went to our usual spot. SUGAR SHACK! They have the best breakfast there.

After breakfast the boys started their usual men activities.. football, barbeque's, and more football. Surprisingly, Ben is not a football fan. Or any sports fan for that matter. He doesn't like to watch it on TV. Laura for sure lucked out on that one. While the boys did their thing, the girls did theirs. SHOPPING! Kay and I were a little frightened that Laura had never been to a Forever 21 so we had to get her there as quickly as possible. She loved it, and I ran into an old childhood friend. We probably talked for a good 45 minutes. That totally sidetracked me from shopping so I didn't leave with much. It was so good to see Brooke though.

That night we skipped the usual dinner and went to a movie. We chomped on popcorn and nachos from the theatre. Wasn't too bad. The food that is, the movie was a little much for my stomach. Sunday we woke up and Ben and Laura hit the road just as we were leaving for church. It was a short trip but super fun none the less. I always tell Kay how lucky we are that our husbands friends married such cool girls. It would be so hard otherwise. Next the Jones Morphy train is going to take a trip to Vegas to stay with the Harbers. We can't even wait!

As a side note.. rest assured that those are Henry Weinhart's root beers in their hands.. and not root beer hold the root.
