Guess Who Won Homecoming Queen!

Mere Mere! We are so excited for her. She was worried she wasn't going to get it because she was a Junior going against all the Seniors, but she pulled through like we knew she would. We are so proud of her! I mean look at this face.. doesn't it look like the face of a Homecoming Queen?

Congratulations Mere Mere! We love you!

Special Friday Give-A-Way!

After I won the print on Poppy Talk I thought it might be fun to have a give-a-way of my own. I have been racking my brain on what to give away until now. I absolutely love my new magnet board and want to share the wealth.

I am giving away one Magnet Board to one lucky reader. This will be custom so you can choose the color and size if you would like. I will also make a small set of magnets to coordinate with the room you choose to put it in.

If you would like to be considered you will need to leave a comment on this post by Tuesday night at 8pm. That is Pacific Time. No need to be a blogger member, just leave your first name and last initial. That means all those blog stalkers out there are more then welcome to participate. I will pick a winner on Tuesday Night.

Good luck everyone!

You can see the magnet board in my previous post.

When the Husband is Away, the Wife will.....

Redecorate?

So I tend to get rather bored when Baker is away for work, or on trips with the boys. I don't know what is much different about him being here rather then being gone. I mean he is gone all day at work so the only difference in the 3 or 4 hours that we spend together at night. I guess I just like to take advantage of the time that I don't have to clean up my mess at the end of the day because I know I am going to use it again the next, or most importantly I can stay up late. Nothing I love more. Baker has been on two trips in the last 2 weeks, and man did I take on the projects? The first one however was a month ago.. I really wanted something behind my bed but couldn't find the right picture. So, I made a headboard. I couldn't find a good way to tuft it so it's pretty Plain Jane. If any of you have any tufting secrets please fill me in.

His first trip away I decided to paint all of our bedroom furniture black. I was sick of the light birch wood and knew Baker would try to talk to me out of it if he were home.. he normally tries to talk me out of all my big tackles. I got them done, and was very pleased. I just need a change in there. Here are the before and afters:

My lamps don't match now.. but what can I do right?

So Baker's boy trip was the big trip. Not so much for him, more so for my projects. I started out small and wanted to make a magnet board. I have been in the market for one and couldn't find one to fit the space I needed. I just bought the metal that I needed at Home Depot, then bought a frame at the DI for only 5 bucks, painted it black, and voila! My fridge is clean!

I also bought another chest of drawers for our room. We just don't have enough space. I found the perfect one that fit the perfect wall for only 40 dollars. A steal. Once again I grabbed my paint brush and my black paint and got to work. This picture is terrible, but it looks great in the room and now Baker has some drawers to put his shorts away.

Once I could take a minute to admire my work, I realized I didn't like the magnet board in the kitchen. The two walls are orange, and the black frame made it look a bit to Halloween for me. I couldn't find another wall for it, so I painted the kitchen. Ha. I love this color that a neighbor of mine has in her living room so went to ask for the sample so I could have a quart made. Lucky for me she had a gallon left and let me have at it.. thanks Nora. So here I am with some new kitchen walls and a new curtain. I hated working with the fabric but it turned out alright. Your before and afters:

I even did the back wall this time.

And last but not least, there was plenty of paint left over so I painted my bathroom too! I didn't get a before picture because it was really unexpected and unplanned for.. but here it is anyway! It used to be yellow.

It all paid off because Baker liked it all! I was afraid he would be mad. Ha. Now if only I had my own house.

PS. Baker is sitting in front of the TV watching The Devil Wears Prada while I am posting, and he is loving it. Ha.

The Big 3M!

Seriously? 3 months already? Where has the time gone? Our little munchkin is getting so big. She is non-stop smiles, discovering her hands, and quite the sleeper. In fact this morning she slept in until 10:30am. She knew mom needed the time. She really is the highlight of our lives.

It seemed a little harder this month to get some good pictures of her. I swear the camera doesn't do her justice. I was also a little hesitant with the big flower. We got it at a shower and haven't had the guts to make her wear it.. it looked good with the pink blanket though. I love her.

Big Girl!

So we finally had Emmy's 2 month check-up. It was sort of closer to her 3 month birthday, but our Pediatrician fell off a horse and didn't take patients for 3 weeks. The office was crammed so we just took what we could. She was such a good girl! I made sure we went on a day that Baker was going to make it. I couldn't hold my little girl down while they poked her with needles. I still get sad anytime I think about it. She made the saddest face after the nurse poked her the first time. Ahh.. then she just non stop whimpered for a half an hour. Luckily though she didn't get any fevers, and no big side effects. We did get her big results though. She is 50% in her head size, and 50% for her weight at 11 pounds 4 ounces. She was just under 24 inches to take 75% in height. She is going to be a tall skinny one. Daddy and I were feeling bad that she had to get her shots, so in an attempt to empathize with her we went ahead and each had our flu shot. I forget how sore your arm gets after these. Like I was punched and given a charlie horse. We go back in about 5 weeks for her 4 month check up. I don't know if I can take anymore shots!

I Cen't Believe It

We recently retired Emmy's first round of clothes. This little outfit that she was swimming in the day we brought her home from the Hospital was the first to go. I can't believe that she was ever this small, nor can I believe how big she is getting. I love her.

Ain't No Heat Gonna Stop Us!

SoCal has been having a huge heat wave, and we thought we would beat the heat and visit some family, and go to Mikey's big first game of the season. So we hopped in the car and made the 5 hour drive to Phoenix. The weather was much cooler. I kid! I Kid! But we did go to meet the Morphy Crew for another family weekend. It was tons of fun, and I ate at LaGrande Orange. That alone is worth the trip for me. Paige, just so you know I get the french pancakes. Traci told me the other day that when you guys were there you didn't know what to order so she just got a coffee.. ha. I love it. Speaking of Paige, I was trying to get her number all morning because I wanted to meet for lunch or something so she could meet little Emmy but to no avail. I figured I would either run into her at LaGrande or Last Chance and was I right or was I right? I totally ran into her at Last Chance.. it was too funny. So glad I did though. Emmy loved her.

After our morning of shopping and whatnot we got Emmy in the pool and pumped up for the big ASU game. We have seen Mikey Play tons, but there is something about seeing him play on his Home Turf. We love it. Luckily it was a night game so it was only 110 outside as opposed to 120. Man it gets hot there. Emmy didn't last long in her ASU gear.. so we cooled her down. She was such a trooper. Go Sun Devils!

Bless This Child!

No one ever told me that Blessing your baby was going to be so stressful. Between finding a dress, ordering quiche, and calming down Baker, I"m surprised I survived the weekend. Had I known that a dress to bless our little girl in was going to cost us upwards of 100 dollars, I would have planned ahead and given myself enough time to make one. I barely even bought one in time. I looked and looked all over the county to find nothing cute in my price range. So the day before the big day I bought one I sort of liked at a big sale. Still spent more then I would have liked, but it worked. We had the whole family in town again on the Morphy side. Everyone but Mike that is. He was only a week away from his first game of the season so he had to stay home for practice. We spent the Saturday at the beach and BBQ'd this amazing pork, and celebrated Cami's birthday. Loads of fun.

Sunday we have church really early, like 8AM early and I didn't want to mess with making brunch for everyone before that, so we ordered some yummy food and had a little get together at my dads house after the block. It was so great to have all the faithful priesthood holders there to bless Emmy. The only ones who couldn't make it were the Mike's on each side. We missed them. Baker did an amazing job. It was so special to hear. He did however ask for an energetic baby.. TWICE. I don't know what I will do with an energetic husband and child!

I realize I didn't get any good pictures of her in her dress. I think I am going to have to put her back in it and take some official ones. I'll post them when I do.

A Week Or So Of 1st's!

So I know that I have been slacking in the blogging world, but I am here to make up for it. We have been so busy the last couple of weeks it has been hard to sit down at the computer for more then 15 minutes to check up on all my blogging friends, and to make a real post about what has been going on. Emmy has had so many 1st's in the last two weeks, I thought I could just throw them all into one post. So here they are in order of experience:

Emmy's FIRST trip to the beach! After all, it is only about a mile and a half up the road. When I found out I was having a baby at the beginning of Summer I thought it would be fabulous. This way I have time to get my body back and make it to the beach by the end of the season. Ha, yeah right. Not that I am too concerned with my bod, that will come in time, it's just getting a munchkin down to the beach is a production in itself. We need the tent, the bouncer, the bag, the bottle, the clothes, the towels, the beach chairs... it goes on. I loved being there, but it just is not as easy as I thought it might be. I can't wait until she can enjoy it though. She can sit in the sun and play in the sand! Next summer will be so much fun. I wish I was brave enough to take her more.. that way I could enjoy it!

Emerson also had her FIRST time in the pool. Well actually not her first, but her first time that she really enjoyed it. The water was like a bath and all the boys over at Uncle Blaine and Aunt Susie's were loving her. She absolutely loved it. Which is no surprise since she loves her baths so much every night. It has been soooo hot here lately it was nice to get her in the pool to cool her down. We just pulled an umbrella near the pool to shade an area for her to enjoy. I especially loved it because it was my first swim after the C Section. It was heavenly. Even the heat couldn't keep me out of the hot tub for the first time in almost a year. Oh it was so great!

Next stop on Emmy's FIRST train was the Angel Game. Grandpa Tom and Grandma Kathy have season tickets and invited us to the Angel Yankee game. What a game it was. A complete blow out. Baker and I went to a game a couple of weeks before Em was born and picked her up this sweet little outfit. It didn't quite fit her. She is still a little nugget.

Her first photo shoot... NOT. I just love her in this little outfit and wanted to show it off!

I seriously can't believe how big this chick is getting.. like I said, she is still a nugget but for her she is getting big. She finally has gotten her first crease in one of her arms. Definitely filling out. Just what we like to see.

I Won!

While I was clicking on all the links from my friend Paige's blog, I stumbled across this amazing blog called Poppy Talk. The day after I found her she posted about a sponsor give-a-way that she was having for this lovely print by Wolfie & the Sneak. I never win anything like this but I submitted my name regardless and I WON! How exciting is that! Thanks Poppy Talk.
